In a prompt display of responsive governance, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai intervened swiftly to ensure relief for an elderly beneficiary who had been deprived of essential welfare benefits.
The issue came to light after media reports revealed that Bhikhalu Ram Dhruv, a resident of Pathrri village in Fingeshwar block of Gariaband district, had not been receiving pension and ration benefits for several months. Taking immediate note, the Chief Minister directed district officials to resolve the matter without delay.
Following the instructions, District Collector B.S. Uikey reviewed the situation and instructed concerned departments to act on priority. It was found that the beneficiary’s e-KYC process had remained pending, which led to the disruption in benefits. The administration quickly completed the formalities, restoring access to government schemes.
As a result, Dhruv received three months’ pending old-age pension in a lump sum. Additionally, officials from the food department delivered one quintal of rice to his home and ensured regular supply through the public distribution system going forward.
Expressing gratitude, the beneficiary said that receiving pension and ration has brought much-needed relief to his daily life. He acknowledged the Chief Minister’s timely intervention and said it has strengthened his trust in the system.
Officials noted that the quick resolution reflects the government’s focus on ensuring that welfare schemes reach every eligible citizen without delay, especially those in vulnerable sections.
