Firing Breaks Out During Anti-Maoist Search Operation in bastar’s Bijapur

Security forces have launched a search operation in the north-western forested and hilly areas of Bijapur district following intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoist cadres in the region.

According to officials, a joint team from the Bijapur district moved into the area and began the operation. During the search, intermittent exchanges of fire broke out between the security personnel and Maoists from the early hours of January 17, 2026.

Authorities confirmed that the operation is still underway. Due to security concerns, details such as the exact location of the encounter, the number of personnel involved, and other sensitive information have not been disclosed at this stage.

Officials said the decision to withhold specific details has been taken to ensure the safety of the forces engaged in the operation. Further updates will be shared once the situation becomes clearer.
