Raipur, August 26, 2025/ – The Chhattisgarh government has once again reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing sports facilities in the state. To provide modern resources, encourage athletes, and ensure excellence in performance, the government is consistently taking new initiatives. In this series, administrative approval has been granted for the construction of an Indoor Badminton Hall / Multipurpose Sports Complex in Dhamtari and Kurud. Under the Sports Promotion Scheme, the state government is expanding sports infrastructure and implementing several important measures to nurture sporting talent.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai is focusing on the development of sports infrastructure, training, and incentive schemes to promote sports. The government’s decision to award prize money ranging from ₹1 to ₹3 crore to players who win medals in international events like the Olympics reflects this commitment. This step not only boosts the morale of athletes but also inspires the younger generation to actively engage in sports. Additionally, under the Chhattisgarh Sports Promotion Scheme, provisions are being ensured for the upgradation of playgrounds, availability of high-quality equipment, financial assistance to sports clubs, and organization of traditional games.
The Collector of Dhamtari informed that administrative approval worth approximately ₹5 crore each has been granted for the Indoor Badminton Hall / Multipurpose Sports Hall project in Dhamtari and Kurud. These complexes will provide modern facilities for various indoor games, including badminton, table tennis, carrom, chess, ludo and snakes & ladders, dartboard, snooker, archery, yoga rooms, squash, basketball, and pickleball. Significantly, the equipment and infrastructure for these sports will be built as per international standards.
Moreover, the sports complexes will not only provide game facilities but will also include all necessary provisions for the comfort of players and spectators. These will include player rooms for preparation and rest, a well-organized sports hall waiting area for spectators and participants, a first aid room for emergency medical assistance, and separate washrooms for men and women. These arrangements will ensure that players face no inconvenience during training or participation in competitions.
Many youths in and around Dhamtari and Kurud are active in sports, but due to the lack of adequate resources and training centers, they are unable to showcase their talent at the state and national levels. With the construction of these indoor sports complexes, local athletes will receive quality training and be able to polish their skills.
The multipurpose sports complexes in Dhamtari and Kurud will prove to be milestones in the field of sports. In the coming times, athletes from these regions will not only represent Chhattisgarh but also bring glory to the state at national and international platforms.
