Raipur | July 22, 2026 The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, on Tuesday approved two major policy decisions aimed at strengthening agricultural support and creating employment opportunities for Agniveer soldiers.
To ensure the timely and uninterrupted availability of fertilisers during the Kharif and Rabi seasons, the Cabinet approved the formation of a Ministerial Sub-Committee to oversee fertiliser supply, distribution, and management across the state.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who holds the portfolios of Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Urban Administration and Development, and Sports and Youth Welfare, will chair the committee. The Ministers for Agriculture Development and Farmers’ Welfare, Cooperatives, and Finance will serve as members, while the Agriculture Production Commissioner will act as the Convener.
The sub-committee will review fertiliser availability, recommend policy measures, and advise the State Government. It will also be empowered to invite officials from relevant departments, subject experts, and representatives of other institutions whenever necessary.
In another significant decision, the Cabinet approved the Reservation of Vacancies in Class III Posts of State Civil Services for Agniveer Soldiers of Chhattisgarh Rules, 2026, providing 10 percent reservation for eligible Agniveers in direct recruitment to Class III government posts.
The reservation will apply to the posts of Police Constable, Forest Guard, and Jail Warder. Eligible beneficiaries will be Agniveers who have completed four years of service in the Indian Armed Forces and have been discharged with a valid service certificate.
The decision fulfils the commitment announced by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai in the State Legislative Assembly on July 26, 2024. The State Government believes the move will provide meaningful post-service employment opportunities for Agniveers while enabling the Police, Forest, and Prison Departments to benefit from their discipline, professional training, and operational experience.
