In a major boost to rural housing, Bilaspur district has achieved a significant milestone by providing permanent homes to over 50,000 families under government housing schemes. The achievement highlights the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) along with other state initiatives.

On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, officials confirmed that a total of 50,044 rural households have received pucca houses, marking a historic accomplishment in the district’s development journey.

Authorities attributed the success to transparent execution and timely completion of projects. An amount of ₹781.13 crore was directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), eliminating middlemen and accelerating construction.

Among the blocks, Masturi led with 14,973 houses, followed by Bilha with 13,762, Kota with 11,205, and Takhatpur with 10,104 completed homes. These figures reflect strong administrative coordination and effective ground-level implementation.

Women played a crucial role in this achievement. Over 100 women were trained as ‘Rani Mistris’ and actively contributed to construction work, while hundreds more were engaged as suppliers and service providers. This not only ensured smoother execution but also created livelihood opportunities and promoted self-reliance among women.

Over a longer period—from 2016-17 to 2025-26—the district has completed more than 1.03 lakh houses, securing a leading position in the state in rural housing delivery.

Beyond numbers, the initiative has transformed lives. Beneficiaries who once lived in fragile, temporary shelters now have safe and dignified homes, marking a shift toward improved living standards and social security.

District officials described the milestone as a matter of pride, emphasizing that these homes represent more than just infrastructure—they symbolize dignity, stability, and a better future for thousands of families.
