Chhattisgarh Celebrates 79th Independence Day: CM Vishnu Deo Sai’s Vision for a Developed State

On August 15, 2025, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai hoisted the national flag at Raipur’s Police Parade Ground, marking India’s 79th Independence Day. In his address, he emphasized the state’s progress, self-reliance, and commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047. The speech highlighted key initiatives, from the Chhattisgarh Silver Jubilee to Vocal for Local, aimed at fostering economic growth, cultural preservation, and sustainable development.

Honoring Freedom Fighters and Soldiers

Paying tribute to freedom fighters and brave soldiers, CM Sai recalled the sacrifices of heroes like Shaheed Gendsingh, Veer Narayan Singh, and Gundadhur, whose contributions in the Paralkot and Bhumkal rebellions remain etched in history. He also honored former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, celebrating his birth centenary as Atal Nirman Varsh for creating Chhattisgarh.

Chhattisgarh Silver Jubilee and Police Commissioner System

Celebrating 25 years of Chhattisgarh’s formation, CM Sai launched the Chhattisgarh Silver Jubilee and announced the upcoming implementation of the Police Commissioner System in Raipur to enhance governance and security.

Commitment to Developed India and Chhattisgarh

CM Sai urged citizens to pledge for a Developed India-Developed Chhattisgarh, inspired by Atal ji’s good governance and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Antyodaya principle. Quoting Goswami Tulsidas, “Ramkaju kinhe binu mohi kahan vishram,” he emphasized relentless dedication to public welfare.

Promoting Swadeshi and Vocal for Local

Highlighting PM Modi’s Swadeshi movement, CM Sai called for adopting local products to boost artisans, weavers, and MSMEs, reducing import dependency. He stressed Chhattisgarh’s leadership in the Vocal for Local campaign, aligning with the Local for Global vision to elevate state products globally.

Advancing MSMEs and Technology

Under the Make in India initiative, CM Sai promoted Zero Defect – Zero Effect for MSMEs, encouraging digital tools, AI, and innovation. The state’s new motto, Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan (Hail Research), reflects a focus on research-driven progress.

Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Farming

To combat climate change, CM Sai advocated chemical-free natural farming to enhance farmers’ income and public health. Promoting millets, pulses, and oilseeds, Chhattisgarh aims to reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers, aligning with sustainable agriculture goals.

Economic and Infrastructure Growth

The new industrial policy has attracted ₹6.65 lakh crore in investments, with ₹3 lakh crore for the power sector, positioning Chhattisgarh as a Power House for India. The state’s first semiconductor unit and NIFT campus in Nava Raipur will drive job creation. Rail projects like Raoghat-Jagdalpur and expressways connecting Dhanbad and Visakhapatnam will boost connectivity.

Education and Skill Development

Implementing the New Education Policy, Chhattisgarh has surpassed the national teacher-student ratio. A 100-acre Education City and Science City in Nava Raipur, along with NIELIT and NFSU campuses, will foster IT and forensic careers. Skill development centers in Bastar and a Livelihood Center of Excellence will prepare youth for global job markets.

Healthcare and Urban Development

With ₹441 crore, 543 hospitals have received quality certification, and a Medicity in Nava Raipur will house super-specialty facilities. The Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana has allocated ₹157 crore for urban projects like oxygen zones and bus terminals.

Naxal-Free Chhattisgarh by 2026

Under PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s leadership, Chhattisgarh is on track to eliminate Naxalism by March 2026. Over 450 Naxalites have been neutralized, 1,578 arrested, and 1,589 have surrendered, with rehabilitation programs in place. Development in Bastar, including reopened schools and new banks, reflects declining Naxal influence.

Housing and Women Empowerment

The state approved 18 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas and 49,000 houses under PM Janman Yojana. The Mahatari Vandan Yojana has disbursed ₹11,728 crore to 70 lakh women, promoting financial independence. Women’s groups in Raigarh are producing ready-to-eat food, with plans for statewide expansion.
Farmers’ Welfare and Cooperatives

Through the Krishak Unnati Yojana, a record 149 lakh metric tons of paddy was procured, with diversified crops incentivized at ₹10,000-₹11,000 per acre. Over 5.62 lakh landless laborers receive ₹10,000 annually. Cooperatives in dairy, fisheries, and agriculture are being strengthened with NDDB support.

Tribal Welfare and Cultural Preservation

Tendu leaf collectors’ remuneration has increased to ₹5,500, benefiting 50 lakh people. The Charan Paduka Yojana protects collectors, while a herbal extraction unit in Durg creates jobs. A Tribal Museum and Freedom Fighters’ Memorial in Nava Raipur, along with Bastar Pandum, promote tribal culture globally.

Environmental and Cultural Initiatives

Chhattisgarh recorded a 683 sq km increase in forest cover, the highest in India, with 3.5 crore saplings planted under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam. Artists and litterateurs now receive ₹5,000 monthly pensions, and a Kalagram is being established. Over 22,000 devotees visited Ayodhya under the Shri Ramlala Darshan Yojana.

Chhattisgarh Anjor Vision

The Chhattisgarh Anjor Vision document outlines short-, medium-, and long-term goals across 13 socio-economic themes and 10 missions, making Chhattisgarh the second state with such a roadmap. With collective support, the state is advancing toward a developed future by 2047.
