Governor Ramen Deka Administers Oath to New Chief and State Information Commissioners in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka on Monday administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Chief Information Commissioner, Amitabh Jain, and State Information Commissioners Umesh Kumar Agrawal and Shirish Chandra Mishra at a formal ceremony held at the Chhattisgarh Mandapam in Raj Bhavan (Lok Bhavan), Raipur.

The oath-taking was conducted by Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel, who formally completed the proceedings.

 Dignitaries Attend Oath Ceremony

Several senior leaders and officials were present at the ceremony, including Revenue, Sports and Youth Welfare, and Disaster Management Minister Tank Ram Verma, and Minister for Skill Development, Technical Education and Employment, and Scheduled Caste Development Guru Khushwant Saheb.

Also in attendance were MLA Purandar Mishra, Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Governor’s Secretary Dr C.R. Prasanna, Chief Minister’s Secretary Subodh Singh, along with principal secretaries and secretaries from various state government departments.

Members of constitutional and statutory bodies also participated, including Acting Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Human Rights Commission Giridhari Nayak, serving Information Commissioner Alok Chandravanshi, former Information Commissioners Manoj Trivedi, Ashok Agrawal and Dhanvendra Jaiswal, and State Information Commission Secretary Neelam Nagdev Ekka, besides other officials and distinguished citizens.

Background of the Appointees

Newly appointed Chief Information Commissioner Amitabh Jain is a retired IAS officer and former Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh. State Information Commissioner Umesh Kumar Agrawal is also a retired IAS officer, while Shirish Chandra Mishra brings experience from the field of journalism.

The appointments are expected to strengthen the functioning of the Chhattisgarh State Information Commission and enhance transparency and accountability in public administration.
