New Delhi — A major security lapse was reported at Parliament House early Friday morning when a young man managed to scale the boundary wall by climbing a tree near the Rail Bhawan side and entered the complex. The incident occurred around 5:50 a.m.

According to officials, the intruder jumped into the premises using the tree as support. He was immediately intercepted by Parliament security personnel and handed over to Delhi Police.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the man, identified as a 20-year-old from Uttar Pradesh working at a shop in Gujarat, was wearing a black T-shirt and khaki trousers at the time of the incident. Police confirmed that he was unarmed and no suspicious items were recovered from him.

Authorities noted that his mental state appeared unstable. The Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Delhi Police’s Special Cell are now questioning him to determine his motive.

The breach has reignited concerns about Parliament’s security, which has faced scrutiny before. In December 2023, two men had jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery and set off yellow smoke canisters while shouting slogans. That incident led to a complete review of security, with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel replacing Delhi Police guards at the complex.

Despite these measures, the latest intrusion highlights ongoing vulnerabilities. Security agencies are expected to reassess existing protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
