A case involving a fake appointment letter issued in the name of the Chhattisgarh General Administration Department has come to light, raising serious concerns about the misuse of digital signatures and the security of official systems.
According to officials, the forged document carried the digital signatures of Secretary Rajat Kumar and Deputy Secretary Shiv Kumar Singh. The letter, dated March 5, 2026, was reportedly circulated among several candidates and even sent via post to make it appear authentic.
The complaint was filed by Section Officer Rajpal Baghel, who informed police that recruitment processes are currently underway across multiple departments, including Transport, Revenue and Disaster Management, Forest and Climate Change, Panchayat and Rural Development, and School Education. During this time, the fake appointment-related order surfaced and was distributed.
The document mentioned recommendations for appointment subject to character verification, departmental training, and successful completion of examinations—details typically found in legitimate recruitment communications, making the forgery appear credible.
The incident has caused concern within the state secretariat, especially as most administrative work is now conducted through digital platforms. With file movement and approvals relying heavily on electronic systems and digital signatures, the issue has raised questions about cybersecurity and internal safeguards.
Police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation. Authorities suspect that the involvement of someone with internal access cannot be ruled out, though no confirmation has been made so far.
Officials have advised candidates to verify all recruitment-related communication through official government channels to avoid falling victim to such fraud.
