Grand Celebration of Engineers’ Day in Korba on the 165th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya

Deepka (Korba): On September 15, 2025, the Coal India Diploma Engineers Association organized a grand Engineers’ Day celebration in Deepka (Korba) to mark the 165th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Engineer Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. The chief guest of the program was Korba MP Jyotsna Charandas Mahant. She said, “The contribution of Bharat Ratna Engineer M. Visvesvaraya in the fields of irrigation, drinking water, and hydroelectric projects is unparalleled. He is an ideal for all engineers, and his role in the development of the nation will always remain unforgettable.”

Multifaceted Contribution of Visvesvaraya

Senior litterateur and advocate of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Dr. Devdhar Mahant, highlighted the life and work of Visvesvaraya. He explained that Visvesvaraya is revered as the Vishwakarma of modern India, the Bhagirath of Karnataka, and the maker of modern Mysore. He served as the Chief Engineer and later the Dewan of Mysore. His achievements include the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam and the establishment of institutions such as Mysore Soap Factory, Mysore Iron and Steel Works, and the State Bank of Mysore.

Honoring Engineers and Artists

On this occasion, senior engineer Deviprasad Rathore from Baradwar region, who had rendered successful services as a chemical engineer in Mumbai, Durgapur, Chandrapur, and abroad, shared his experiences. Several other speakers also expressed their views.
Korba MP Jyotsna Mahant honored engineer Deviprasad Rathore, litterateur Dr. Devdhar Mahant, Krishna Kumar Vaishnav, flautist and saxophonist Abdul Ghaffar, doctors, and many engineers with shawls and mementoes. Abdul Ghaffar impressed everyone with his flute and saxophone performance.

Poster Launch of Chhattisgarhi Film

During the ceremony, the poster of Mahant Production’s upcoming Chhattisgarhi film “Beauty Parlourwali Bahu” was unveiled by MP Jyotsna Mahant. Proprietor Engineer Poshak Mahant stated that this is a big-budget, significant film that will provide opportunities to talented local artists. Parts of the film will also be shot at their ancestral residence “Bhur Saal Palace”, built in 1933. The film’s writer and director Sharda Amit informed that the storyline is based on the theme of women empowerment.

Contributions to the Success of the Event

The program was conducted by Engineer Poshak Mahant, president of the Coal India Diploma Engineers Association and MP’s representative. The efforts of General Secretary Sameer Devnath, Secretary Sanjay Rathore, Sandeep Manikpuri, and Rajneesh Tiwari were appreciated for making the event successful.
