The state government has assured that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel, stating that fuel supply across the region remains stable and sufficient. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department clarified that adequate stock is available and there is no cause for concern among consumers.
Officials said the government is in constant coordination with the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply, especially in view of evolving global conditions.
According to the department, sufficient reserves of LPG, petrol, and diesel are currently maintained across the state. Regular weekly reviews are being conducted to monitor supply and prevent any disruption. Citizens have been advised not to fall for misinformation or panic-driven buying.
Fuel availability remains strong across the state’s 2,516 petrol pumps and depots of major oil companies. In March 2026, petrol supply exceeded demand, with 1.27 lakh kilolitres supplied against a requirement of 1.01 lakh kilolitres. Similarly, diesel supply stood at 3.00 lakh kilolitres against a demand of 1.64 lakh kilolitres.
In April, supply has continued at a steady pace. As of April 23, around 1.60 lakh kilolitres of petrol and 1.38 lakh kilolitres of diesel have been received, indicating consistent replenishment in line with demand.
To prevent hoarding and black marketing, authorities are carrying out surprise inspections and enforcement drives across districts. Control rooms have been set up at both state and district levels, while a dedicated helpline (1800-233-3663) is operational for consumer complaints.
During a recent review meeting with representatives of major oil companies, officials noted that some industrial consumers were purchasing diesel from retail outlets, creating temporary pressure in certain areas. Companies have been directed to streamline supply and meet demand efficiently.
At present, the state holds approximately 77,111 kilolitres of petrol—enough for around 22 days—and 84,295 kilolitres of diesel, sufficient for nearly 15 days of consumption.
The government has reiterated that fuel availability is adequate and supply systems are functioning normally, urging the public to remain calm and avoid unnecessary panic.
