The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has achieved a major breakthrough against an international drug trafficking network at Swami Vivekananda International Airport in Raipur. A foreign national of Nigerian origin was apprehended with 270 grams of cocaine shortly after his arrival from Delhi.

According to officials, the accused had landed in Raipur on an IndiGo flight from the national capital. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, DRI officers had intensified surveillance inside the airport premises and closely monitored the suspect’s movements.

Intercepted Based on Intelligence Input
Sources said the DRI team had prior information about the suspect’s arrival, prompting a well-planned operation. When the passenger displayed suspicious behavior, officials stopped him for questioning. A thorough search led to the recovery of cocaine concealed in a clever manner.

Drug Seized, Accused Taken into Custody
Investigators revealed that the accused had attempted to smuggle the narcotics by hiding them carefully to evade detection. However, the alertness of the DRI officers foiled the attempt, and he was detained within the airport itself. Following the seizure, the accused was taken to the DRI office for further interrogation.

Probe into International Drug Syndicate
The DRI has now launched an extensive probe to trace both forward and backward linkages of the case. Officials are working to identify the source of the cocaine, the intended recipient in Raipur, and the larger network involved. There is strong suspicion that the case is linked to an international drug syndicate.

Case Registered Under NDPS Act
An official case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities indicated that further questioning could lead to additional disclosures and more arrests in the coming days.
