In a landmark move aimed at improving the quality of life for government employees, Raipur is set to become home to Chhattisgarh’s first-ever central residential housing project. Thanks to the persistent efforts and vision of Member of Parliament Brijmohan Agrawal, the Central Government Employees Welfare Housing Organisation (CGEWHO) has approved a major housing scheme involving the construction of 1,000 modern and affordable flats in the state capital.
This ambitious initiative will benefit employees from the central government, state departments, and public sector undertakings. The flats will be developed in phases and will offer proximity to essential services like offices, hospitals, schools, and public transport.
CGEWHO Seeks Land Allocation for the Project
CGEWHO has formally written to MP Brijmohan Agrawal, requesting the allocation of 5 to 7 acres of encumbrance-free land to initiate the project. Once the land is allotted, the first phase of construction is expected to begin promptly.
The idea for the housing initiative was originally proposed by MP Agrawal under the “Kendriya Vihar” scheme, with a focus on creating a centrally located residential zone that serves the needs of government employees and their families.
Praise from CGEWHO Leadership
CGEWHO’s Chief Executive Officer, Gagan Gupta, expressed strong interest in starting the project in Raipur and extended his gratitude to MP Agrawal. He acknowledged the MP’s dedication in bringing forward the long-standing demand of central government employees in the region. “His prompt action and serious advocacy with the central authorities are truly commendable,” Gupta said.
Steps Toward Implementation
To ensure the project’s swift progress, MP Brijmohan Agrawal has already approached key state officials, including Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma, RDA Chairman Nand Kumar Sahu, Revenue Secretary, Raipur Collector, and the Municipal Commissioner, urging them to facilitate land allocation.
The project, once underway, is expected to positively impact thousands of government employees and their families, providing them with high-quality, affordable, and secure housing in the heart of Raipur.
A Model Project for Chhattisgarh
CGEWHO operates under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and follows a “no profit, no loss” model. Known for its transparent processes, adherence to RERA guidelines, and partnerships with IITs and other reputed engineering institutions, the organization has successfully executed over 35 housing projects across India. The Raipur project will be another milestone in its journey and a benchmark for future developments in Chhattisgarh.
MP Brijmohan Agrawal’s Vision
Calling the initiative more than just a housing project, Brijmohan Agrawal described it as a “symbol of dignity and convenience for government employees in the state.” He also credited the Central Government’s quick approval to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inclusive governance mantra, “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
“It is my commitment to ensure that this project is implemented at the ground level without delay,” Agrawal added.
With this visionary step, Raipur is poised to usher in a new era of accessible and quality housing for public servants — a development welcomed by the city’s residents and government employees alike.
