Tata Motors has reinforced its strong focus on vehicle safety by showcasing an intense new crash test involving the upcoming Tata Punch facelift. After recently conducting a rare SUV-to-SUV crash test with the Tata Sierra, the company has now raised the bar by pitting the refreshed Punch against a heavy commercial truck.
The latest safety demonstration involved a head-on collision between the Tata Punch facelift and a Tata truck, highlighting the brand’s emphasis on real-world safety validation rather than conventional laboratory-only testing.
Inside the Crash Test
In the crash test footage released by Tata Motors:
A Caramel-coloured Tata Punch was prepared for evaluation
Four crash test dummies were placed inside the cabin — two adults and two children
All vehicle systems were calibrated before the test
The Punch was then driven directly into a stationary Tata LPT (Long Platform Truck) at a speed of 50 km/h.
Impact Results and Safety Performance
The video shows that upon impact:
Front airbags deployed instantly
The Punch’s bonnet absorbed most of the crash energy
The passenger cabin remained structurally intact
The truck rolled slightly backward due to the force of the collision
Tata Motors confirmed that:
All doors unlocked and opened post-impact
Seatbelts and restraint systems functioned as designed
There was no intrusion into the passenger compartment
According to the company, the Punch facelift performed beyond expectations in terms of structural strength, restraint effectiveness, and occupant protection.
Focus on Real-World Safety
Tata Motors said the crash test was not meant to be a publicity exercise, but a demonstration of its commitment to safety under extreme conditions.
By recreating a scenario involving a collision with a heavier vehicle, the company aims to ensure that the Punch facelift offers strong protection and confidence for everyday driving situations.
The latest test further strengthens Tata Motors’ position as one of the leading carmakers in India when it comes to prioritising safety across its product lineup.
