City of Tomorrow: Raipur’s ₹6,000 Crore Plan for a Modern Metropolis

Raipur is set to evolve from a growing city into a smart, organized, and modern metropolis. With a combined investment of over ₹6,000 crore from the central, state, and local agencies, the city’s future blueprint aims to revamp every corner of the capital by 2040. If implemented on time and with quality, Raipur could become one of Central India’s most advanced and livable cities.

Roads and Traffic

  • Major corridors like Raipur-Bilaspur Road, GE Road, Canal Road 2.0, Saddu-Urkura Road, and Khalsa School-Lodipara Chowk will see upgrades.

  • Over 20 flyovers, underpasses, and widened roads are planned to ease congestion.

  • Investment of ₹2,200 crore proposed for road and junction improvements.

  • Direct industrial connectivity and smoother daily commutes expected.

Municipal Projects

  • Transport Nagar development: ₹100 crore

  • Water treatment plants (100/150 MLD): ₹130 crore

  • Chokara Nala sewer system: ₹1,500 crore

  • STP-TTP facilities: ₹142 crore

  • Solar energy projects: ₹100 crore

  • Beautification of ponds and parks: ₹236 crore combined

These initiatives aim to improve water management, sanitation, greenery, and citizen services.

Health and Social Infrastructure

  • Health projects under CGMSC: ₹410.77 crore

  • Integrated 700-bed hospital at Ambedkar Hospital: ₹266 crore

  • 100-bed civil hospital, mental health hospital, and state vaccine store included

  • Social infrastructure projects like Divyang Park (₹10 crore), Dome-structure auditorium (₹73 crore), and advanced examination centers (₹100 crore)

Environment, Energy, and Sanitation

  • CBG plant (100 TPD capacity): ₹100 crore to convert wet waste, dung, and agricultural residue into clean fuel

  • Solar projects in Sarona and Birgaon: 20 MW target, saving ~₹10 crore per month in electricity

Public Transport and Facilities

  • PM e-bus scheme: 100 electric buses, ₹27.23 crore

  • Pandri Bus Stand redevelopment: ₹250 crore

  • Unity Mall: ₹150 crore

  • Red Center–co-working & IT tower: ₹40 crore

  • Parijan Complex (CSR funded): ₹200 crore

This blueprint is not just paper planning—it’s a strategic roadmap for a better Raipur, offering improved life quality, modern infrastructure, and sustainable urban growth. Once implemented, the city’s appearance, pace, and identity are expected to be completely transformed.
