Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday personally received UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Delhi airport as the visiting leader arrived in India for a short but significant visit. According to official sources, the UAE President’s stay in the national capital is expected to last around two hours, during which he will hold discussions with the Prime Minister later in the evening.

The visit comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions in West Asia, including strained relations between Iran and the United States, continued instability in Gaza, and the unresolved Yemen conflict involving Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Officials indicated that these regional developments are likely to feature prominently in the talks, along with bilateral cooperation. Several memoranda of understanding are also expected to be signed.

Taking to social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi described the UAE President as a close friend and highlighted the strength of bilateral ties. “Went to the airport to welcome my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. His visit reflects the priority he places on the India–UAE partnership. I look forward to our discussions,” the Prime Minister wrote.

PM Modi also shared photographs from the reception, including images of the two leaders travelling together and greeting each other warmly.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the visit is taking place at the invitation of the Prime Minister and builds on the strong momentum generated by recent high-level exchanges between the two countries. These include the visit of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, in September 2024, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Crown Prince of Dubai, in April 2025.

This marks Sheikh Mohamed’s third official visit to India since assuming office as UAE President, and his fifth visit to the country in the past decade, reflecting the depth and consistency of engagement between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi.
