The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is set to intensify its investigation into the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC) scam, with plans to take jailed businessman Shashank Chopra into custodial remand for questioning until January 22.

Officials familiar with the probe said Chopra, who is currently in judicial custody, has been identified as a key figure in the high-profile case. The ED believes his custodial interrogation is crucial to uncovering financial transactions and tracing the money trail linked to the alleged irregularities.

According to the agency, Shashank Chopra is the director of Mokshit Corporation, a firm allegedly connected to multiple questionable deals under the CGMSC framework. Investigators are expected to question him in detail about the tendering process, alleged commission payments, bogus supply orders, and the flow of unaccounted money.

ED officers, along with legal representatives, appeared before a special court on Wednesday to formally seek Chopra’s remand. Sources indicated that the questioning could shed light on a wider network of individuals involved in the scam, potentially leading to further action.

The ED’s move signals a major escalation in the probe, as authorities work to unravel the financial and administrative links behind one of the state’s most talked-about corruption cases.
