Raipur, March 10, 2026: A delegation of Sarpanches from Jashpur district, currently on a four-day study tour, paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday at the meeting hall of his office in the Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha. The Chief Minister interacted warmly with the Sarpanches and enquired about the situation in their respective areas, local challenges, and the development works underway.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that Sarpanches play a vital role in strengthening rural development and governance at the grassroots level. Recalling the early phase of his public life, he shared that he began his journey as a Panch, later served as a Sarpanch, and subsequently got opportunities to serve people as an MLA and Member of Parliament. He noted that a committed and determined Sarpanch can bring meaningful and lasting change to the village and Panchayat.
He emphasized that the responsibility of infrastructure development and effective implementation of welfare schemes at the Panchayat level largely rests with Sarpanches. He added that government schemes are giving fresh momentum to rural development while also generating employment opportunities. The Chief Minister urged the Sarpanches to ensure proper execution of schemes, maintain regular coordination with ministers and officials on local issues, and use the study tour to learn from successful development models and replicate them in their own villages.
Notably, the delegation comprising 35 Sarpanches from Jashpur visited the Assembly on Tuesday to witness the proceedings of the Vidhan Sabha. As part of the study tour, the group will also observe development works carried out in Gram Panchayat Patora in Durg district and Gram Panchayat Sankara in Dhamtari district.
On the occasion, MLA Gomati Sai and Raymuni Bhagat, along with Sarpanches from Jashpur district, were present.
